Computers, my beloved~

If you know me, I'm a real huge sucker for computers, or really, anything with a CPU. This is something that dated all the way back to first grade, maybe even earlier. This here is a list of *most* things I have that have a CPU in them. Anyything that has a CPU in it is a computer, no matter how shitty it is (*coughs* smartphones).

The main devices (the ones most people would consider "computers")

My main computer (hostname = sonic)

Ah yes. My main computer. The thing I'm using right now to make this website. Custom-built by my dad in 2020. This is the device I spend the most time using. Here are its specs:

Not really the most powerful thing, but I don't really care. As long as it can get me through the day just fine, I'm not gonna upgrade it. Even when it begs for me to end it all, I will still use it. The operating system I'm using on this thing is Artix Linux. It's basically Arch Linux except you actually have a choice on what init system you can use. You can choose between OpenRC, runit, and dinit. I'm using the version with OpenRC. On top of Artix, I use Xfce as my desktop environment. (I intend on creating my own theme for it, I just don't have the patience to learn atm)
You may have noticed the lack of a photo for my main PC. Why would I do this, especially since it's my MAIN machine? Because it's so fucking ugly that showing a mere image of it will taint this entire webpage, and maybe even the entire website. Instead, I'm going to give you a description. Imagine if a trash can was tipped over to its side, propped up with 2 bars on the bottom, halved, got flimsy plastic attached, and had RGB lighting tossed into it to be the cherry on top this obnoxious gamer-type shit sandwich. That's my PC. It's so bad that for a long time, I had the hostname set to "eyesore." (basically, I have this because in late 2020 (I was 11 years old at the time), this computer had a different case. That case was getting old, and the power button was somewhat broken, so I decided to ask my dad for a new case. I ended up choosing this case, not knowing how much I would come to loathe it 4 to 5 years later. In short, thanks 11-year-old me. /s) I do intend on replacing this case with something more sensible. I just have to stop being a bitch and actually ask my dad if I can buy this (and a used laptop, more on that later) with my Christmas money. For now though, I'm stuck with this case and have to deal with it.

My laptop (hostname = tails)

This is my laptop. It's a ThinkPad T480. This is my newest acquisition in terms of computers, having recieved this 2025-03-02. Here are its specs:

If you couldn't tell by the fact that the CPU is a model from 7 years ago, I decided to go with a refurbished laptop, mainly because brand new laptops are VERY disposable, especially the consumer-grade ones. Otherwise, why do Louis Rossmann and Salem Techsperts (the greatest technician that's ever lived) talk about corporations being shitty so much? I wasn't gonna settle for anything less than a decommissioned business laptop. They may not have the latest guts in there, but those guts still work fine, especially with a *nixlike installed. Speaking of which, like my desktop computer, I have Artix Linux installed on this thing. I'm using a setup similar to how I have it on my main computer, with Xfce4 as the DE, OpenZone set as my mouse cursor, and the panel made to look like the Windows taskbar pre-Windows Vista SP3 Windows 7, with some modifications. The only major differance is that the Power Manager plugin's pinned to the panel, which is necessary because there are 2 batteries in this thing, and there's no screensaver set for this thing. Also, if you're wondering if I use the TrackPoint or the trackpad, I use the TrackPoint, mainly because the trackpad feels awful to use. (and about the wallpaper, yes, I love listening to Lapfox Trax/Halley Labs music.)

ThinkPad T480

My server (hostname = knuckles)

This is my server. I mainly use it for 2 things: Minecraft and network-assisted storage. I want to use this for other things later on, such as hosting this website and hosting an IRC server, but I need money and a domain name. Anyways, specs:

Unlike my main computer, which was a custom-built PC, this is a pre-built mini-desktop by Lenovo. Also, this thing wasn't originally mine. In 2016, my grandmother had an HP Pavilion. It served her well for about half a decade, but it was getting old and clunky, especially since Windows 10 was the newest Windows OS, and everyone was taking the oppertunity to upgrade. She ended up acquiring this. Via means unknown to me, but she acquired it nonetheless. In November 2023, my aunt bought her an HP mini-desktop that ran Windows 11 out-of-the-box. As a result, she gave me a free computer (as well as a free printer because my aunt bought her a new printer too) :D. My dad wanted me to use this to run Linux and to continue using Windows on my main PC, but because Windows sucks, and not being able to do what you want with your own computer is just not fun, I ended up installing Linux on my main PC anyways. This server runs Debian. This has no GUI installed on it, because, well, c'mon, it's a server. A GUI is just gonna waste resources that could be used for something else. Unlike the ugly POS that is my main computer, the server will have its file photo posted right here (This photo is somewhat outdated. I'm not taking a new photo, though, because the server is behind my TV).

Other devices (mainly embedded shit)

iPhone SE (3rd generation, 2022)

Oh boy... -_-
This is my phone. It's a 2022 model, as specified before, with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. Pretty standard for an iPhone, or at least one from 2016. I'm just going to say this: what's the point of stuffing a computer into a PHONE of all things. Wow! That's just what I need! A small glass and alumin(i)um rectangle with glowing blue lights on the front that sends data to like a million different corporations for the sole purpose of making the rich assholes that run them even richer. THESE THINGS ARE FUCKING PARASITES!!! You just don't even know it. Think it's your fault for getting addicted to TikTok? Think it's your fault that you scroll through Facebook or Instagram all the damn time? Think it's your fault that you are addicted to ragebait on Twitter? No! It's all a part of the corporations' plan to silently collect data from you, and they can't fucking do that without designing the app to grab your attention and keep it for as long as possible. Your phone acts as a host for all of these distractions that not only cause your to lose track of what you NEED to do, but also send any data they can to the assholes who run these apps so that they can sell it all to advertizers, or use whatever you upload (whatever text you write, whatever images you upload, whatever voice clips you make) to train some AI model without your consent to any of it. The government could be using our phones to spy on us as well for all I know. What can you do to stop this bullshit? Delete all the apps? Maybe. You could go one step further and slam your smartphone on the floor, grab a hammer, smash your smartphone to bits (take out the SIM card first, though), run over its remains with a car, toss it off a bridge, and burn whatever remains to the ground for extra measure! After that, just buy a goddamn Nokia. One with the S30+ OS, though. Using a KaiOS device is no better than using iOS or Android. What's stopping KaiOS, a "dumbphone OS" that has partnered with Google, and is basically a smartphone OS for phones without touchscreens, from giving your data to parasitic corporations? And then again, I barely trust S30+ too, since HMD, the company that makes Nokia-branded phones in 2025, is adding a bunch of features to S30+ that make it more like KaiOS. Ew. If it gets too bad, I'd look at something like the Punkt phones. Anyways, what was I talking about again? Oh yeah, iPhone. I don't really use this thing for much other than texting, phone calls, and taking pictures. I'm not going to upload a picture of it because unfortunately, this thing is my only working camera.

Netgear R6400v2 (Modded with FreshTomato, hostname = shadow)

Hisense 43R6G Roku TV

Not much to say here, other than "Why does everything have to connected to the fucking internet???" I only really use this to pull up my local ABC affiliate at the end of every year to see the Ball Drop, to listen to YouTube videos whenever I'm going to sleep or when I'm sick, and to serve as a display for my server's terminal interface, as well as my video game consoles. Speaking of which...

Video game consoles!!!!

Xbox 360

Ah, yes. The good ol' Xbox 360. A good part of my childhood was spent here, at least once my dad got 2 Xbox Ones. I have one of the Xbox Ones that he bought, though, I haven't played it much, especially since Microsoft shut down the online store for its predecessor and I had it with enshittification consuming everything in its path. As for the Xbox 360, it's the very last model, the E. Y'know, the one that looked like an Xbox One and meant to serve as the option for people to choose if they didn't want to deal with the Xbox One's always-online bullshit? I use it somewhat regularly. I recently played Sonic 3 & Knuckles on it. I would be playing the Xbox 360 more, but I don't have a lot of games for it, and I don't have the resources for RGH modding.

PlayStation (SCPH-7501)

The oldest thing with a CPU I have. This particular PlayStation was manufactured at the end of 1998. Unfortunitely, I don't have a modchip (yet). I only have 2 games for it: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Final Fantasy VII, a game where you fight against a big, evil corporation. Tickles my fancy.
